How to create a Quote with discounted line items
DoPricer automatically applies your customer's correct prices and discounts whenever a line item is added to a Deal or Quote — on all DoPricer plans.
This article explains the recommended workflow for creating quotes with DoPricer-applied pricing.
The recommended workflow
The smoothest way to create a quote with DoPricer pricing is to add your line items to the Deal first, confirm the prices, and then create the quote from there.
Step 1 — Add line items to the Deal
Open the Deal record and click Add Line Item. Add all the products you need for this quote.
Step 2 — Save the Deal
Click Save. This triggers DoPricer to process the new line items.
Step 3 — Wait 7–8 seconds, then press browser refresh
DoPricer processes line items in the background via webhook. Refreshing the page ensures HubSpot displays the updated prices DoPricer has applied.
Step 4 — Confirm DoPricer's prices are correct
Check the line items on the Deal. You should see DoPricer's prices and discounts reflected. The DoPricer Discount Message property on each line item will confirm what was applied and why.
Step 5 — Click Create Quote
When you're happy the pricing is correct, click Create Quote on the Deal. The line items carry over to the quote with DoPricer's prices already applied.
DoPricer will not reprocess these line items — it checks the DoPricer Discount Message property, sees it is already populated, and skips them. No further changes are made.
The browser refresh requirement
HubSpot's Quote Builder auto-saves every few seconds. Because Quote Builder does not re-fetch data from HubSpot after saving, it can overwrite DoPricer's prices with stale values if you continue editing without refreshing first.
Price Lock (on by default for Quotes) protects against this — if a line item price is overwritten, Price Lock automatically restores it to the correct DoPricer value.
Even so, the best practice is to always confirm prices on the Deal before creating a quote, so you have full visibility of the final pricing at every stage.
If you need to add line items inside Quote Builder
If you add line items directly in Quote Builder rather than on the Deal first:
- Add your line items as normal
- Allow Quote Builder to auto-save (this is when DoPricer receives the new line items and processes them)
- <u>Press browser refresh</u> — this exits Quote Builder and returns you to the Deal or to an earlier step in the quote wizard
- Click the quote to reopen it
- The line items will now show DoPricer's applied prices
Do not proceed through to publishing without refreshing first, or you may not see the final DoPricer prices during the workflow.
