What happens to existing line items when updating a price list?

When you update a price list in DoPricer — for example, changing a custom price on a product record — existing line items are not affected. The new price is only applied to new line items created after the change.

Why existing line items are not updated

DoPricer prices line items at the moment they are created. It listens for the "new line item" event in your HubSpot portal, applies the correct price based on your pricing rules at that moment, and records the result in the DoPricer Discount Message and DoPricer Price Message properties on the line item.

Once a line item has been created and priced, DoPricer does not revisit it — unless Price Lock is enabled and the price is manually changed.

This means that if a sales rep adds a product to a Deal today at your current Wholesale USD price, and you then update that price tomorrow, the line item on that Deal will still show the original price. The new price will only appear on line items created after your update.

What to do if you need to reflect updated prices on existing Deals

If a Deal was created before your price change and you need it to show the new price, the sales rep should:

  1. Remove the existing line item from the Deal
  2. Re-add the product as a new line item
  3. Wait 7–8 seconds for DoPricer to process, then press browser refresh

DoPricer will treat the re-added line item as new and apply the updated price.
